Pinto beans are great in chilli and as refried beans, and make a terrific filling for burritos. They are often served with rice and are popular in Spanish-speaking countries.
Are pinto beans and kidney beans the same thing?
No. However, both kidney and pinto beans are flavourful, unlike the more mild-flavoured navy beans. Kidney beans have a slight sweetness and a meaty, or dense texture, while pinto beans have an earthier flavour and a creamy texture. Pinto and Kidney beans are excellent substitutes for each other.
What are pinto beans good for?
Beans and legumes are some of the most underrated foods on the planet. They are excellent sources of dietary fibre, protein, B vitamins and many other important vitamins and minerals. There is good evidence that they can help reduce blood sugar, improve cholesterol levels and help maintain a healthy gut.
These pinto beans come packed in the smaller sizes in plant-based cellulose (Natureflex), the sacks vary but may contain or be plastic. We never add any additional plastic to bulk sacks.
