Raw, organic whole sweet almonds. Ideal for snacking on or adding to mixes.
What is a whole almond?
This is an almond that has not been blanched (had the skin removed), nor has it been sliced, slivered, chopped or ground.
What is a raw almond?
Most American almonds have been pasteurised to satisfy their food safety laws. This means that they are unlikely to sprout. These almonds are usually sourced from Spain, or other EU countries that do not require pasteurisation. They are certified organic and pass all EU food safety laws.
What are whole almonds used for?
Generally, these are simply used for snacking on. They are also used in recipes where whole, raw almonds are required. Unless you have a heavy-duty blender, they're not that easy to add to smoothies - try soaking them overnight first to break them down a little and it should work.
Almonds are a source of vitamin E, copper, magnesium, and high-quality protein; they also contain high levels of healthy unsaturated fatty acids along with high levels of bioactive molecules (such as fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants), which may help prevent cardiovascular disease.
